Course Description

Private School EAP Level One introduces students to the English competencies suitable for instruction in an ached emic environment. This course is appropriate for those in a high beginner level. The books correspond to anA2-to A2+ on the Common European Framework of Reference of CEFR (or an approximate equivalent of 3.0 on the IELTS). The course is 300 hours long. It runs full-time fro 12 weeks, 25 hours a week, 5 hours.

The course has three main sections: listening and speaking; reading and writing; and grammar. Each section has corresponding online supplementary materials called MyEnglishLab shortened to MEL in the Scope and Sequence Chart. Academic vocabulary building is integrated into all sections of the course. The textbook indicates which vocabulary words are on the Academic Word List.

Pre-Intermediate Level (2)

High Intermediate Level (4/5)

  • Intake: Spring, Summer & Winter
  • Length: 12 weeks

Course Description

Private School High Intermediate allows students to further develop the complex and sophisticated English language skills required for academic success in an English speaking college or university. The course is for participants who are at a high intermediate level of English language proficiency or a B1+ to B2- level on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). This is the equivalent of between a 5.0 and 6.5 on the IELTS. In this course students learn to complete the following academic language tasks:

  • Listening tasks with note-taking skills as a focus
  • Speaking tasks with various presentation techniques incorporated
  • Reading tasks that include extensive reading strategies as well as comprehension skills
  • Writing tasks that include a variety od organizations skills to produces different genres of writing
  • Vocabulary building skills which include words from the AWL
  • Critical thinking skills that will provide increased success in a higher education learning environment.
