It is highly recommended to apply 5 – 6 months in advance of the intended start of the program of study. This will give sufficient time for processing of the study permit application. Please check processing time at https://cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/index.asp .

1.2 Pay application fee $150CAD once eligible to study in Canada.

1.3 Gather all necessary forms from online, Application for International Students and Declaration of Financial Capability (PDF). Send these completed forms together with an official High School or Post-Secondary Transcripts (with official translation if not in English format) and a proof of English Language Proficiency as required to –

1.4 Pay registration fee $500CAD when requirements are completed.

1.5 MTG Healthcare Academy will issue a Letter of Acceptance.

1.6 Accepted students apply for study permit at a Canadian Embassy/Consulate. Study Permit application with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will require the Designated Learning Institute (DLI) number and the Letter of Acceptance. 1.7 Students with approved study permit will receive documentation from Canadian government to come to Canada or start to study online until Covid-19 travel restrictions are lifted.

2.1 At least 18 years old upon application

2.2 English Language Proficient

Health Care Aide Curriculum 2019 has the following new English language entry requirements:

2.2.1 Academic English Language Arts (ELA)

– Grade 11, 20-2 level course, with a minimum score of 60% achieved or Canadian jurisdiction equivalent, or

– English 20-1 with a minimum of 60% achieved or Canadian jurisdiction equivalent, or

– English 30-1 or 30-2 with a minimum of 55% or Canadian jurisdiction equivalent, or

– Deemed equivalent by completion of ACCUPLACER (assessment of placement test)

NOTE: Students who have not completed the ELA 20-2 level requirement and achieved the minimum grade are subject to completing the ACCUPLACER assessment test. This can include students out of province, out of country or mature students that have been our of school for a significant length of time.

2.2.2 English Language Proficiency (ELP)

Applicants where English is a Second Language (ESL) must meet the English Language Proficiency requirement in addition to the Academic English requirement. Equivalencies are as follows:

– Required Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of a minimum of 7 in each of the four language skills (Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing) and not an average of 7, or

– By completing high school in Canada. Studies must have been in English at an approved Canadian high school (Grades 9, 10, 11, 12) with at least three consecutive years of full-time academic study, or

By completing a recognized post-secondary degree or diploma program in Canada. The program must have involved at least two full years of full-time, consecutive academic study in English.

2.2.3 Approved English Language Proficiency Tests

– International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic: 6 (no section-score below 5.5), or

– Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet Based Testing (TOEFL iBT): 71, or

– Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) General: 7 (with no section score below 6), or

– Canadian Language Benchmarks / Milestones Test: 7 in each strand, not an average of 7

2.3 Digital Literate

2.3 There is a digital literacy requirement for basic computer skills. The new HCA curriculum will also include opportunities for the students to build their digital literacy through course / learning activity requirements.
